About Dr. Williams

Dr. Williams attended Ohio University for his undergraduate studies and completed his Doctorate at Palmer University where he graduated with Gold Coat Honors in 1988. Palmer University, formerly Palmer College of Chiropractic, is located in Davenport, Iowa and known worldwide as the founding college of chiropractic. Graduates are considered to be the best in their field.

After graduation, Dr. Williams went on to obtain his board certification as a Chiropractic Sports Physician, (CCSP) through Northwestern in 1994. He was honored and privileged to be taught by Dr. William Moreau who is the current director of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Sports Medicine Clinics. This additional training and board certification makes Dr. Williams the “go-to” expert when a patient has received an injury while playing sports or for the non-athlete who is experiencing spine or extremity pain..

Dr. Williams practices two primary techniques, Gonstead and Thompson Drop. The Gonstead technique, named for its founder Dr. Clarence Gonstead, involves Dr. Williams running a painless device called a Temposcope down the patient’s spine each visit before they receive treatment. When a vertebrae is misaligned it causes changes to the nerves and blood vessels at that level. This device is so highly sensitive that it measures the temperature differences on either side of the spine allowing Dr. Williams to pinpoint exactly which vertebrae are out of alignment and in need of an adjustment. Being so specific in his approach has garnered Dr. Williams a success rate of greater than 90%..

The second technique, Thompson Drop, involves using a specially designed segmental table with “drops” built in. The patient stands on the footboard of the table, face forward, and is gently lowered into a lying position. The drop piece under the part of the body about to be adjusted is then raised approximately one inch, as Dr. Williams applies a small amount of pressure to the spine the table drops back into place and the vertebra is re-aligned. Most patients will not even feel the vertebra move but may notice an immediate release in the tension or pain in that part of their body. This technique is so gentle, yet effective, that it is used on all our patients from pediatric through adult.

In 2006 Dr. Williams received the “America’s Top Chiropractors” award from the Consumer Research Council of America. He has been honored with this award each year since.

Together with his wife Susan, who is a Licensed Chiropractic X-ray Technologist, and also serves as his office manager, they strive to make Williams Chiropractic Center truly a place with "A difference you can feel!"
