FIBROMYALGIA

  FIBROMYALGIA

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain that is accompanied by fatigue, altered sleep, and memory/mood issues. Common symptoms include: pain and/or stiffness all over the body, sleep problems, brain fog, fatigue, headaches(including migraines), and feelings of anxiety. While there is no one definitive blood test to diagnose firbromyalgia, there is a specific combination of blood tests that do give a more complete picture of contributing factors. In addition, conditions such as food allergens/sensitivities, candida overgrowths, vitamin and mineral deficiencies/imbalances, thyroid problems, SIBO, leaky gut, adrenal fatigue, mold toxicities, heavy metal toxicities, and even methylation gene mutations such as MTHFR/COMT can play a key role in contributing to the pain and other symptoms often associated with fibromyalgia.

Functional Medicine will address fibromyalgia by systematically testing and then addressing the above mentioned contributing factors using specific nutaceuticals, along with diet and lifestyle changes.
