Rib Pain

Rib pain can result from major events such as a fall or an impact to the chest or abdomen, but it can also occur from more minor everyday activities like over reaching, twisting, or even sneezing. Depending upon how your rib misaligns, the ensuing pain can range from a mild pinch to  a sharp, stabbing  pain, one that will stop you in your tracks.  This pain is often intensified by movement.

The ribs work like a bellow, when they separate, air is pulled into the lungs and when they close down, the air is pushed out again.  A rib can become restricted (misaligned) either with inspiration (breathing in) or expiration (breathing out) and can produce pain with every breath. Ribs can be restricted (misaligned) in the back where they attach to the thoracic spine, in the mid line under the arm, or in the front where they attach to the breast bone. It is not uncommon to have multiple ribs misalign  at one time.

Dr. Williams has developed a specific technique to correct rib restrictions (misalignments) which is both gentle and very effective in reducing pain and improving breathing. If you are experiencing rib pain, call the office today for an evaluation.
